All individual or collective actions are mediated by material culture. For this reason, the study of material culture allows the researcher to investigate different activities of human behavior, including the sense of belonging and social differentiation - not only in the studied past, but also in the present -, of the heirs and maintainers of material goods. In this respect, scientific research is often responsible for providing empirical information that points out the relevance of a given object in the eyes of those who make scientific and political decisions about heritage.
