The objective of Forensic Anthropology is the identification of individuals and their cause of death. Therefore, it works with archaeological methods and techniques for field research and bioanthropological methods for laboratory analysis of human remains. Unlike other countries, Brazil has contributed little to investigations about crimes from the perspective of human skeletal analysis, in order to clarify problems of social violence. This problem arises, above all, from the way in which Forensic Archaeology and Anthropology has been applied in Brazil, whose analyzes to identify individuals and traumas of violence are carried out in a diluted manner in laboratories of different origins and by professionals from different backgrounds. As a result, there is no protocols with standardized procedures, making it possible to establish interdisciplinary analyzes. NEPAAF is developing training, teaching and research in Forensic Sciences, with a hard core in Forensic Archeology and Anthropology in order to contribute to overcome these difficulties in the Brazilian context.
